With a flourishing solo career, Rhuari has also fronted bands like Cawdor Drive and collaborated with Get Tay Folk and The Calum Campbell Circle, the latter marking a lifelong musical bond with his brother, Calum. Rhuari’s recent accolades include the Dundee Musicians Award, Twa Tams Battle of the Bands 2023 victory, and recognition as a BBC Introducing Artist, where his song North was featured on BBC Radio Scotland’s Travelling Folk.
In addition to three home-recorded EPs (Harm’s Way, The First Drop, and Houses, Outline Trees) and a folk-punk album (Faux Crow), Rhuari released his debut studio album, Slow for a Poet, in 2023, recorded with Robin Wynn Evans at T-Pot Studio. This album featured collaborations with top-tier Scottish musicians like The Mad Ferret Band and Calum Campbell.
Rhuari’s second studio album, Sonder, was released on October 4th, 2024. The album showcases his unique storytelling and musical versatility, blending folk, acoustic, indie, and reggae. Collaborating with notable local artists, including members of The Mad Ferret Band and Kirsty Smart from The Arcades, Sonder explores deep themes around mental health, grief, and resilience, marking a significant evolution in Rhuari’s artistic journey.
